In our new Hangouts Session, we sat down with Pedro Flores, a multifaceted talent from Lisbon. Known for his soulful voice and heartfelt performances, Pedro also runs La Trattoria, a beloved Italian restaurant and a local favourite since many years ago. Beyond music and culinary arts, Pedro dis a sensitive, humble person deeply passionate about beauty in all its forms.

Join us as we dive into the inspirations behind his music, his family’s restaurant, and his unique perspective on finding beauty in the everyday.

Pedro wears The Silted Company raw linen suit and C.R.T.D x Julia Gastin necklace.

HOC: You divide your time between your Family restaurant and being a musician. Can you describe a typical day in your life?

Pedro: My daily routine varies a lot depending on what’s happening in my life as a musician or at the restaurant. However, I always try to dedicate everyday time to both areas. There are days when I focus more on music and others when I spend more time at the restaurant.

HOC: What are you currently fascinated by?

Pedro: Currently I am fascinated by some very soulful and deep voices like Milhanas and Maro.

HOC: Can you share your guilty pleasure?

Pedro: I’m not sure if it qualifies as a guilty pleasure, but whenever I have a hangover, I can’t stop thinking about Mirari’s smash burgers.

HOC: How do you describe your personal style?

Pedro: I see myself as more of a classic style, but I always enjoy adding my personal touch. It's the small details that truly reflect your personality.

HOC: Name three must-have items in your wardrobe:

Pedro: Basic dark and white t-shirts; corduroy pants and denim shirts.

HOC: When did you start singing?

Pedro: I have been singing for as long as I can remember. It all started with my father's influence, as he was an entertainer in his youth.

HOC: Did having a family restaurant pressure you in any way to follow that path or is it more of a passion?

Pedro: My family never pressured me regarding my decisions; instead, I have always been deeply passionate about the art of hospitality and cuisine.

HOC: What have been some of the biggest challenges you've faced when handling your singing career and managing your family restaurant at the same time?

Pedro: The biggest challenge I face is that both fields occupy distinct spaces in my mind. Music thrives on creativity and inspiration, while the restaurant business involves not only creativity but also a more objective and analytical approach. As a result, my greatest struggle lies in balancing my thoughts and energy between these two contrasting realms.

HOC: Which artist or person inspires you the most?

Pedro: Julio Iglesias and Frank Sinatra.

HOC: What goals are you looking forward to achieving? (professional and personally)

Pedro: My personal goal is to love deeply and be loved in return, as well as to travel as extensively as possible. Professionally, I aim to achieve the perfect balance between business and music, allowing me to express my soul to the fullest.

HOC: As you know, at HOC we only have small and independent designers/brands. Are there any emerging designers or brands that you are keeping an eye on?

Pedro: Alphaiate and hey darling.
